How to check DMs on Instagram without being “seen”

Many of us interact with people who are not our friends on Instagram, and sometimes you might want to check a message that they have sent but not be “seen”. When you check any DM on Instagram, it is immediately marked as “seen” for both you and the other person who has sent it. WhatsApp has the option of turning off read receipts (the blue ticks) but Instagram has no such feature. Whether you follow the person or not, if you have seen a message sent by them, it will be marked as “seen” and the person on the other side will know. So for whatever reason you might have not wanted to be “seen” having read that message, maybe you don't have time or inclination to engage in the conversation further, or you just don't want to talk, it makes the situation a little awkward. However, there are two ways how you can check DMs on Instagram without it being marked as “seen”. One is a temporary solution, the other is more permanent. Depending on why you want to not be “seen” reading the DMs,

Instagram’s head apologizes for bug that deleted activists’ stories

Head of Instagram Adam Mosseri  has tweeted an apology  about a bug that deleted users’ story posts on Thursday. The timing was unfortunate for activists trying to raise awareness about missing Indigenous women, with organizations Red Dress and National Day of Awareness of Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG, abbreviated by some as MMIWG2S to include two-spirit people)  questioning whether their posts  had somehow been erased deliberately. According to Instagram, however, the bug affected stories, archives, and highlights of Instagram users across the globe. Mosseri and  Instagram’s statement  about the deletions say this isn’t the case and that the stories were not removed because of anything content-related. He specifically addressed the Indigenous people’s concerns. “This day is incredibly important to raise awareness of this critical issue and support our Indigenous community on Instagram,”  Mosseri tweeted . “We apologize to all those who felt like they could

Instagram working on new tools for influencers

Facebook-owned Instagram is working on a suite of new tools to help influencers make money off its platform, including creator shops, affiliate commerce and a “branded content marketplace.” Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced the upcoming features during a live stream with Instagram chief Adam Mosseri. Creator Shops would be an extension of the company’s existing shopping features, which allows businesses to sell products, reports Engadget. “We see a lot of creators setting up shops too, and one part of being a content creator business model is you  create great content , and then you can sell stuff, and so having creator shops is awesome,” Zuckerberg said. Zuckerberg also said the company is working on tools that would enable Instagram stars to get paid for promoting products. “Creators should be able to get a cut of the sales of things that they’re recommending, and we should build up an affiliate recommendation marketplace to enable that to all happen,” he said.
