As Covid hits cinema biz, Inox Leisure ties up with food delivery platforms to deliver food and beverages

Multiplex major Inox Leisure has partnered with food delivery apps, including Zomato and Swiggy, to deliver its food and beverages products to customers to their homes as the pandemic continues to impact cinema operations in the country.   "We are aggressively growing our food and beverages (F&B) segment and are extremely optimistic about our new F&B road map with the introduction of some new processes and exciting innovations, including making our food available on online food ordering platforms, Swiggy, Zomato, Dineout & Thrive and a few more.      Actor Vijay Sethupathi has apologised for a viral picture that showed him cutting his birthday cake with a sword. The photo was circulated widely on social media earlier this week. Vijay had a small birthday celebration on the sets of his upcoming film with director Ponram. “I thank all the film personalities and fans who wished me on my birthday. Three days ago, a photo taken during my birthday has emerged to be controversial. In the picture, I used a sword to cut my cake. It was only because I’m acting in director Ponram's film, in which the sword plays an important role. Since I celebrated my birthday with the team, I used the sword to cut my cake. Cases filed against 25 theatres in Chennai for violating occupancy

     CHENNAI: Chennai city police have booked cases against at least 25 theatres for screening Vijay-starrer “Master” for not adhering to the 50% occupancy norm, which is in force due to the pandemic. The movie opened on Wednesday and Thursday in the city. Police said they would recommend initiating action against these theatres for violating government norms. An officer said, “We had instructed all subordinate officers to conduct random checks at theatres to check if they are strictly adhering to the rules.” A special team of policemen kept a tab on social media to track and find if theatres were following the . the 50% occupancy norm. Based on a specific tip, a police team of the MGR Nagar police station visited theatres in their jurisdiction and found 100% occupancy in its 11 am show. The investigating officer said that they had found a few more theatres including those in Chromepet, Kilpauk, Washermenpet, Villivakkam and a few other places violating the occupancy norm...

     Master has finally released today (January 13, 2021) and fans indeed can't keep calm. The Thalapathy Vijay-starrer saw the light of the day after almost 10 months from its original release date. Though the film was earlier scheduled to hit the theatres on April 9, 2020, the makers were forced to postpone the date owing to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. Vijay's 64th project is directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. Featuring Vijay Sethupathi as the deadly antagonist, the action-entertainer has Malavika Mohanan essaying the female lead.      A few clips from team Master were leaked on the internet. The entire crew and the fans were shocked as the intro shot of Vijay and a few videos from the film were all over the internet. Later, the film's director Lokesh Kanagaraj appealed to fans to not share the video. "Dear all It's been a 1.5 year long struggle to bring Master to u. All we have is hope that you'll enjoy it in theatres. If u come across leaked clips from the movie, please don't share it. Thank u all. Love u all. One more day and #Master is all yours", tweeted Lokesh Kanagaraj. Within a few hours, the makers have found that the Sony Digital Company's employee is the source for the leakage. They are now planning to take legal action against the company. With only twenty-four hours to go, the entire team is now all set for the grand release of the film.

  Theatres including Rohini in Koyambedu and Ganga theatre in Kolathur saw youths lining up and waiting the entire day to buy tickets. Large crowds with little to no physical distancing were seen gathering at multiple theatres in Chennai and other districts on Sunday to buy tickets for actor Vijay's film 'Master' which is set to release in theatres on January 13. Fans, mostly young men who were lined up all day, observed no mask compliance despite multiple advisories issued by the state government.
