Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal urges Centre to direct vaccine makers to increase monthly supply to the region

Delhi Chief Minister (CM) Arvind Kejriwal has urged vaccine makers Serum Institute and Bharat Biotech to increase their supplies to Delhi, in a letter to Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan. In it, the CM says when putting both groups i.e., 18-44-year-olds and 45+, the national capital will require 83 lakh doses per month to vaccinate the population in the next three months. "We have already developed the infrastructure required," he says, adding that currently, they are vaccinating roughly 1 lakh people per day. CM Kejriwal also said that the government has placed orders with Bharat Biotech and Serum Institute, and has also approached Reddy Labs for Sputnik vaccines. According to the CM, Delhi has currently vaccinated 2.99 lakh doses in the 18-44 age bracket. Centre moves SC against Karnataka HC order asking enhancement of oxygen for state

The Centre Thursday moved the Supreme Court against the Karnataka High Court order asking it to increase the daily liquid medical oxygen (LMO) allocation for the state to 1,200 MT from the present 965 MT. The Centre has also sought a stay on the high court order. A bench headed by Justice D Y Chandrachud was told by Solicitor General Tushar Mehta that the state is being supplied 965 MT LMO presently and the order needed to be stayed urgently. The bench also comprising Justice M R Shah, in its hearing, said it will have to look at the paper book before issuing any order regarding the issue. Meanwhile, the opposition Congress was quick to respond as it expressed “shock” over the Centre moving the apex court against the order of the Karnataka High Court.      WhatsApp has introduced a new feature in India that will help its users find the Covid-19 vaccination centre nearest to them. The messaging app will make use of a chatbot for the same, developed in collaboration with several health partners that will operate this, and some more of such helplines. ‘Don’t queue up outside Covid-19 vaccination centres tomorrow': Kejriwal

     Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal on Friday urged people not to queue up outside Covid-19 vaccination centres in the national capital on Saturday when the third phase of the inoculation drive to cover all adults in the country is scheduled to start. "I request you to not queue up at the centres tomorrow. As soon as the vaccines come, we will make proper announcements. Only then people with appointments can start coming to the centres," Kejriwal said. Kejriwal said the Delhi government has not received the vaccines against the coronavirus disease yet. Maharashtra CM says be ready, third Covid-19 wave may hit by July-Aug

Even as the second wave is yet to recede, Maharashtra is likely to be hit by a third wave by July and August, chief minister Uddhav Thackeray said on Thursday, citing the epidemiologists consulted by the government. He asked the state administration to be prepared for the third wave by ramping up the infrastructure, saying he didn’t want to see a repeat of the current scenario. The CM called a meeting of divisional commissioners and district collectors to take stock of the Covid situation on Thursday. State health minister Rajesh Tope said, “We will have to become self-sufficient, especially in oxygen supply.
