Two-Wheeler Sales April 2021

     Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has recorded sales of 77,849 units in April 2021. The company sold 63,879 two-wheelers in the domestic market, and 13,790 two-wheelers in the export markets, registering an overall 18 per cent increase, compared to April 2019 sales. Sales in April 2020 were zero due to the nationwide lockdown imposed across the country due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. In March 2021, Suzuki sold a total of 69,942 units, so the April 2021 numbers recorded a month-on-month overall growth of 11.3 per cent. The previous highest-ever monthly sales number for SMIPL was in October 2020, when the company sold 76,865 units. Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, "It is very satisfying that despite all the challenges associated with the second surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the month of April, we have posted 12% growth in domestic and an exceptional 57.5% growth in our exports volumes vis-a-vis same month in 2019. TVS Apache bikes' price in India increased

    2021, for the Indian automotive industry, has brought along plenty of news, a lot of which has had to do with price hikes. Plenty of two-wheeler manufacturers have announced their decision to increase the prices of their offerings in the country and adding its name to the list is the TVS Motor Company. The third largest two-wheeler company in India has quietly increased the TVS Apache's price in India -- yep, the entire range is now expensive, though the quantum of this hike is not humongous.   TVS Apache has beaten Bajaj Pulsar the first time in many months      Motorcycles in 150cc-200cc segment have registered impressive YoY gains in November 2020, even though MoM sales growth has turned negative. A total of 1,56,866 units were sold in November, which is YoY gain of 35.24%. Sales during the corresponding period last year stood at 1,15,993 units. MoM sales growth is down -22.85%, as compared to 2,03,326 units sold in October 2020. This is not unusual, as auto sales generally decline after the festive rush. Apache on top TVS Apache leads the pack with 41,557 units sold in November. It has registered a substantial YoY gain of 40.07%, as compared to 29,668 units sold in November last year. Apache is also among the few motorcycles in this space that have positive MoM growth. As compared to 40,943 units sold in October 2020, MoM sales are up by 1.50%.
