However, it will miss out on Pro features like Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Tim Cook says iPhone 12 is the most popular iPhone model, but Pro sales also ‘very strong’

Apple CEO Tim Cook has revealed the most popular iPhone model and the answer is not surprising at all. During Wednesday’s Apple earnings call for fiscal Q2 2021, the company CEO said that among all iPhone models released in 2020, the iPhone 12 is the most popular. He said that it has been most successful among the current iPhone family, while underlining the fact that even the Pro models continue to do well. Cook said that both the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max have also been recording strong sales, although not in first place. Interestingly, he did not mention anything about the iPhone 12 mini sales which has been struggling. Various reports suggest that Apple is even planning to stop production for the iPhone 12 mini. “iPhone 12 is the most popular, but we did see very strong sales of the Pro portion of the family as well. So the revenue that you’re seeing is a function of unit growth and revenue-per-unit growth,” Cook said, during the call. This was the first time when

Apple cut production for Airpods: Reason Why?

Apple AirPods are among the top-selling products in the iPhone maker’s kitty, but its sales may be losing steam. And that is why Apple has reportedly asked its manufacturing lines to reduce the production of AirPods wireless earphones by 25 to 30 per cent. Apple is facing huge competition in the wireless earphones market in the US and even though the iPhone maker is in the leading position, sales of the AirPods fell short of Apple’s expectations. Apple got AirPods manufactured more than it is selling, leading to a huge unsold inventory right now. According to Nikkei Asia, Apple is now expecting to manufacture AirPods between 75 million and 85 million units for 2021. It was previously hopeful about sales of more units, which is why its previous forecast suggested 110 million units. Apple’s plan to downscale the production of AirPods indicates that the demand for the premium wireless earphones that has become an integral part of Apple’s ecosystem is weakening, despite the double-digi

How to stop apps tracking you with Apple’s App Tracking Transparency feature

Apple ’s controversial App Tracking Transparency feature is finally rolling out as part of the latest  iOS  14.5 software update. The built-in privacy feature is a big deal for iOS – after all, it will give iPhone and iPad owners more transparency and control over apps, further boosting their privacy. First unveiled at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2020, the new feature is a major step for user privacy, giving Cupertino a significant edge over companies like  Facebook  and  Google  that track user activity to produce targeted advertisements. Since 2012, Apple is using the IDFA (“Identifier of Advertising”) which is a replacement for the Unique Device Identifier,  to track different websites and apps. Unlike the UDID, the IDFA gives users more control over their privacy. Before the rollout of  iOS 14.5 ,  iPhone users were able to limit ad tracking but this new feature gives control over apps that want to track for advertising. Facebook, the social media gia

Apple with New MacBooks

Apple ’s M1 chip has now made it beyond the MacBook and Mac Mini devices, expanding to the new iMac and iPad Pro. However, a new report suggests that the successor to the M1 processor has already entered mass production. As per a new report by Nikkei Asia, the new M1 successor, which is tentatively referred to as the M2 processor, started mass production this month and could soon be seen on the next-gen MacBook laptops.  The report further adds that the M2 chipset could be seen as early as July this year in the new MacBooks that are scheduled to be available in the second half of this year. The Apple M2 chipset, like the M1, is a system-on-a-chip (SoC) and will feature processing units, GPU and AI (artificial intelligence) accelerators all in the same chip. The report also adds that the M2 chip will also later make it to other Apple devices beyond the Apple MacBook.   Apple M-series chipsets to replace Intel chips for the brand First introducing the M1 chip in late 2020, Appl

Apple rolls out ‘controversial’ feature with iOS 14.5

Apple rolls out ‘controversial’ feature with iOS 14.5 Apple first released iOS 14.5 and iPadOS 14.5 in February through its developer and public beta programs. Since then, the operating system has seen several updates as Apple worked on refining features and removing bugs.  On Monday,  Apple officially released  the update for all iPhone and iPad users. You can download iOS 14.5 or iPadOS 14.5 right now by going to  Settings > General > Software Update . It's a good idea to back up your Apple device before installing the update just in case there's an issue you have a current backup to restore your phone or tablet with.  The most notable and controversial feature included in the update is App Tracking Transparency (ATT). As of April 26, any new app submissions to the App Store will need to comply with ATT, which requires app developers to get permission from a user in order to track their activity across other apps and websites when using an iPhone or iPad.  You
